2.Preparation: Monomers of Alginate Oligosaccharide are made from brown alga extract, and obtained by enzymatic hydrolysis, chemical derivatization and column chromatography, including β-D-Mannuronic Acid Sodium Salts and α-L-Guluronic Acid Sodium Salts.

1、Immune-regulation and anti-tumor activity
Carrageenan oligosaccharide can increase the weight of immune organ(thymus etc), the concentration of IL-2 and TNF-α, which are important immune factors. Because the antitumor activity of carrageenan oligosaccharide is achieved by action on immune organ, carrageenan oligosaccharide have no cell toxity.
2、Anti-radiation activity
Carrageenan oligosaccharide can obviously alleviate the decrease of spleen NK cell activity, the inhibition of hematopoiesis and haemocytes decrease caused by radiation. In addition, carrageenan oligosaccharide can strengthen the immune system and protect from radiation injury.
3、Antibiosis and anti-virus activity
Carrageenan oligosaccharide can inhibit the adhesion of herpes simplex virus type 1, and can also inhibit enterobacteria proliferation, promote the growth of small intestinal microvilli and immune system of broiler.
4、Anti-oxidation activity
Carrageenan oligosaccharide have strong ability of scavenging of superoxide free radical and hydroxyl free radical. Carrageenan oligosaccharide can also protect cell from hydrogen peroxide injury.
5、Anticoagulant effect
Carrageenan oligosaccharides have similar anticoagulation with heparin. Carrageenan and fibrin form insoluble complex, while carrageenan oligosaccharide and fibrin form soluble complex and carrageenan oligosaccharide has much less toxity.
